Dr David Lane Reader of Analytical Physics and Advanced Materials Cranfield University

Description

David Lane is Reader of Analytical Physics and Advanced Materials in Cranfield University’s Centre for Materials Science and Engineering at the Defence Academy, Shrivenham.

He joined Cranfield University in 1985 after spending three years in industry. After completing his doctorate he joined the University's lecturing staff. Shortly afterwards his work on solar cells began with the surface analysis of cadmium telluride devices for BP Solar.

David has managed or contributed to many EPSRC funded projects and was one of the founding members of aSiNet, the EU funded network on amorphous silicon technology, and PVNET, the EPSRC funded network on thin film photovoltaics.

His research team is part of SUPERGEN PV-21 the £6.3 million EPSRC funded national consortium on thin film solar cells for which he is the leader of a work package on high throughput screening for photovoltaic materials. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and a Chartered Physicist.
